Knowledge enhancement of rural women through KVK intervention for overall technological development & economic growth

Abstract:
Womens role is important to increase Indian’s economy, specialy farm women They make critical contributions to household production and consequently to national food security. As per 2001 census women constitute about 40 percent of the workforce engaged in agriculture, their number being about 92 million. By 2012, this number is expected to cross 110 million and it would be about 45 percent of total agricultural workers. These figures give an indication of the role of farm women in Indian agriculture. The nature and extent of participation of farm women in agricultural activities are affected by a host of factors, which include, regional variations in nature of work, socio-economic status of the farm families, family traditions, change in nature of activities due to introduction of labour saving implements, mechanization, introduction of labour intensive and labour saving technologies and variations in agro-climatic conditions. Women to be engaged in agriculture more efficiently leading to development of women and women in nation building process.
