Abstract:
Characterizing germplasm is critical for estimating variance and identifying desirable genotypes for crop improvement. Evaluation of fifteen genotypes of chrysanthemum has been taken up in the Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, University of Agricultural Sciences Raichur during 2019 and 2020. Fifteen genotypes of chrysanthemum were collected from different parts of the country and observed for growth, yield and flowering. The results revealed that PAU 35 had shown highest plant height (45.33, 44.88 and 46.35 cm), number of branches (14.23, 14.52 and 14.37 cm), while plant spread (67.20, 75.94 and 69.67 cm) was in Bidan Rajat during 2019, 2020 and pooled, respectively. Among floral traits minimum days for flower bud initiation was recorded in PAUD-11 (51.98, 48.13 and 49.66days), meanwhile maximum flower diameter (8.35, 9.44 and 8.89 cm) and flowering duration (33.25, 34.56 and 33.90) was noted in Bidan Rajat during 2019, 2020 and pooled, respectively.
