Abstract:
The present investigation entitled “Studies on effect of different organic manures on growth performance of basmati rice” was carried out during kharif season at the Organic Research Farm, SKUAST-Jammu. Organic manure applications can affect the plant growth. The present study was conducted to study the impact of different manures on plant height, test weight, penical length, and number of effective tillers of basmati rice during 2018 and 2019. The basmati-370 variety was used for this study. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three treatments of different organic manures comprises T1-Control (No application); T2-Farm Yard Manure (FYM) (100% N); T3-Vermicompost, VC (100% N); T4 - FYM (50% N) + VC (50% N); T5-FYM (50% N) + Poultry manure, PM (50% N); T6-FYM (50% N) + Neem cake, NC (50% N); T7-VC (50% N) + PM (50% N) and T8-VC (50% N) + NC (50% N). The results of the present investigation indicated that, the vermicompost along with poultry manure has significant influence on growth parameters of basmati rice. Plant height, penical length and test weight were significant highest in combined application of VC with PM over control at harvest of rice but number of effective tillers were not significant influenced during both the years.
