Abstract:
In this paper, an attempt was made to find the stable variety of carnation using stability models. For this purpose, data on eight parameters including plant height(m), stem length (m), number of days to flower bud formation, number of days for first flowering, flower size (cm), number of flower stem per plant, Duration of flowering(days) and vase life(days) of 50 varieties for three flushes were collected during 2016-2017. Discriminant analysis was performed to group the varieties into higher and lower yielder varieties. The higher yielder group was subjected to the stability analysis for the growth characters (plant height, stem length, number of days to flower bud formation, vase life). Varieties Tempo and UHFSCar Col.-11 were found to be the most stable varieties with respect to plant height, UHFSCar Col.-11 and UHFSCar Col.-15 for stem length, Lady Green and rendezvous for number of days to flower bud formation, UHFSCar Col.-13 and UHFSCar Col.-18 for vase life.
