Abstract:
The present study was carried out at with an objective to estimate the gene action governing yield and yield attributing characters in QPM. The selected QPM inbreds were evaluated for various yield and yield attributing traits during kharif, 2014 at College Farm, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. Selected inbreds were crossed during Rabi, 2014-15 and the resultant single cross hybrids were evaluated over three locations viz. ARS, Adilabad, RARS, Jagtial and student farm, College of Agriculture, Hyderabad during Kharif, 2015. The pooled results over three locations indicated that ratio between variance due to GCA and SCA was lesser than unity for majority of the traits under study indicating the predominance of non-additive gene action.
