Abstract:
The study investigated into the constraints perceived by research and extension scientists in ANGRAU. The respondents were selected based on proportionate random sampling among the research and extension scientists in ANGRAU. Data was collected using well-structured questionnaire during the year 2017. The acquired data was analysed using mean and standard deviation. The major constraints perceived by the scientists were lack of adequate supporting staff, lack of avenues for higher training abroad to improve skills, delay in assessment under CAS, lack of modern laboratory facilities and others. The major suggestions expressed by the scientists were provision for a three months foundation course for newly recruited scientists as in the case of ICAR scientists, formulation and implementation of effective transparent transfer policy doing justification for all employees irrespective of recommendations, automation and computerization of office work, provision of training within India in institutions of excellence for three months period once in five years and others. All the constraints could be overcome by adopting the suitable suggestions offered by the scientists which would further improve the performance of the scientists in both research and extension wings.
