Abstract: Gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis revealed the presence of 20 compounds in leaves of Shepherdia argentea (Pursh.) Nutt. In GC-MS analysis, some of the phytocomponents screened were phytol, squalene and n-hexadecanoic acid. The compounds were identified by comparing their retention time and peak area with that of literature and by interpretation of mass spectra. Many of them have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anticancer actions.
