Evaluation of anti-diabetic and antioxidant activity of extract of Calotropis gigantea Linn. in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

Abstract: Calotropis gigantea L, belonging to family: Asclepiadaceae is also known as Sweat akand, is used in traditional medicine for treatment of various ailments. The present study showed that the efficacy of Calotropis gigantea leaves extract/fractions (EtOH, ChF, and BtF) for its antidiabetic and antioxidant activity. Since the effectiveness of Calotropis gigantea has been practicing among the ethnic population in and around eastern and southern reasons of India. As in present study planned to investigate for the scientific pharmacological validation which can explore its antidiabetic effects.
