Abstract:
Recent advances in novel drug delivery system aims to enhance safety and efficacy of drug molecule by formulating a convenient dosage form for administration and to achieve better patient compliance. ODTs are those when put on tongue disintegrates rapidly releasing the drug which dissolves in the saliva. The faster the drug disintegrates the faster the onset of action. In such cases bioavailability of the drug observed is greater than the conventional tablet dosage form. This is because the drug absorbed from mouth, pharnyxas the saliva passes down to the somach. In this article focuses on the orodispersible tablet, superdisintegrants,mechanism of action, patented technology and the evaluation of ODTS.
